CITY OF BUTLER, Pennsylvania Entry-level, Full- time Police Officer Civil Service Testing The civil service application required to apply for the position of entry-level, full-time police officer is available at the City Building, 140 West North Street, Butler, PA 16001. The City Building is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. You may also download the civil service application at www.cityofbutler.org. Call (724) 285-4124, extension 201 for additional information. Completed applications must be returned to the Office of the City Clerk not later than 4:00 p.m. on June 11, 2026. Applications received after that time will be rejected. A physical agility test and a written examination will be held on June 18, 2026 at 8:30 a.m., at the Allegheny County Police Academy, 700 West Ridge Drive, Allison Park, PA. Applicants must arrive by 8:00 a.m. A written examination will be given only to applicants who pass the physical agility test. Other mandatory components of the test for eligible applicants (based on their physical agility test and written test scores) include an oral examination, a background investigation, a medical examination, a vision examination and a psychological examination. Applicants will successfully be Pennsylvania Act 120 Certified under the provisions of the Municipal Police Officers Education and Training Commission (MPOETC) (may be currently enrolled in ACT 120 program to take the exam) or will have successfully completed Act 120 Certification Training and successfully passed the final exam prior to hiring. A complete copy of the Citys hiring policy, as set forth in its Civil Service Rules and Regulations, is available in the Office of the City Clerk for inspection during regular business hours or on the Citys website at www.cityofbutler.org.
