PUBLIC NOTICE OF SUBMISSION OF RESIDUAL WASTE MAJOR PERMIT MODIFICATION APPLICATION On or before July 10, 2026, Sonneborn, LLC will submit an application to the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (PADEP), Waste Management Program, for a Major Permit Modification for the existing Residual Waste Permit No. 300995 for the Sonneborn Petrolia landfill. The waste facility is in Fairview Township, Butler County, Pennsylvania. The facility accepts non-hazardous residual waste from their chemical manufacturing facility. No hazardous waste is accepted at the waste facility. The facilitys permitted design will be updated to allow for a vertical expansion of the Petrolia Landfill. The expansion will increase in facility capacity by 65,000 cubic yards. Copies of the application will be available for review during normal business hours at the DEPs Northwestern Regional Office, 230 Chestnut Street, Meadville, PA 16335. An appointment to review this application must be made with the DEP regional office. Fees for copying may be charged by the DEP. Copies of the application will also be provided by the DEP to Petrolia and Butler County. Petrolia and Butler County may submit comments to the DEP within 60 days of receipt of the application, recommending conditions upon, revisions to, and approval or disapproval of the application. The DEP will also accept and consider comments from the public during the permit review. LEGAL NOTICE Notice is hereby given that Three Rivers Aggregates, LLC, 321 Currie Road, Slippery Rock, PA 16057, is requesting a stage II bond release from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection for the surface mine permit No.10180305-02, issued January 11, 2021, known as the Pfahl Mine. This permit is located in Worth Township, Butler County approximately five miles southwest of Slippery Rock, PA. More specifically, the proposed bond release area is located on the south side of Brandon Road, approximately one-half mile west of the intersection of I-79. The bond release area is located on the property of James C. and Katherine S. Pfahl. A Stage II bond release is reques-ted for SMP #10180305 for 17.3 acres. The area proposed for bond release has been backfilled, graded, topsoil replaced, and vegetation established which meets the specifications of the approved permit. The amount of bond presently in effect is $8,836.21, with the amount requested to be released being $8,836.21. The application, plans and other data concerning this operation for which bond release is requested are available for public inspection at the Bureau of Surface Mining and Reclamation, Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, White Memorial Building, P.O. Box 669, Knox, PA 16232 between the hours of 8:00 A.M. and 4:00 P.M., Monday through Friday.
