LEGAL NOTICE OF AVAILABILITY FOR PUBLIC COMMENT USDA Housing Preservation Grant Program - FY 2026 The Housing Authority of the County of Butler (HACB) is seeking $100,000 in Housing Preservation Grant (HPG) funding from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development to support the preservation and rehabilitation of owner-occupied housing in eligible rural areas of Butler County. The proposed HPG program will supplement HACBs existing Homeowner-Occupied Rehabilitation Programs and aid eligible low-and very low-income homeowners for necessary repairs to their homes. Proposed activities may include repairs addressing health and safety deficiencies, including roofing, electrical systems, windows, sump pumps, structural repairs, and other necessary rehabilitation work. HPG funds will be coordinated with existing housing rehabilitation resources, including CDBG and HOME funding, to leverage available resources and increase the number of eligible house-holds receiving assistance. HACB anticipates that the proposed HPG funding could assist approximately 5-10 households with needed housing repairs. The proposed service area includes eligible rural areas throughout Butler County. Areas that are not eligible for the proposed program include Butler City, Cranberry Township, and a few additional areas, based on USDA Rural Development eligibility requirements. The Statement of Activities for the proposed HPG program is available for public review and comment.
