PUBLIC NOTICE MINING PERMIT RENEWAL Pursuant to the Surface Mining Conservation and Reclamation Act and the Clean Streams Law notice is hereby given that Seneca Landfill, Inc., P.O. Box 1080, Mars, PA 16046, has made application to the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) to renew their permit (SMP # 10210101) to conduct surface coal mining activities at the Seneca Mine. The permit was originally issued January 28, 2022. There are no changes proposed to the approved permit with this renewal application. The mine site is located in Jackson and Lancaster Townships, Butler County. This site is known as the Seneca Coal Expansion Mine. The issued permit area is 65.6 acres. The mine site is situated to the north of Hartmann Road, to the east of Little Creek Road, to the south of Swain Hill Road, and to the west of Route 528; approximately 0.6 mile northeast of the intersection of Hartmann Road and Seneca School Road. The receiving streams are Unnamed Tributaries to Connoqu-enessing Creek (WWF), warm water fishes. The Evans City, PA U.S. Geological Survey 7.5 minute topographic map contains the area described. A copy of the application is available for public inspection at the Butler County Conservation District, 120 Hollywood Drive, Suite 201, Butler, PA 16001. Written comments, objections, or a request for a public hearing or informal conference may be submitted to the DEP, Knox District Mining Office, White Memorial Building, P.O. Box 669, Knox, PA 16232, within thirty (30) days from the date of the final (4th) publication of this notice, and must include the persons name, address, telephone number, and a brief statement as to the nature of the comment(s).
